It's not very busy right now. there are two girls sitting down haviing dinner. They both have small salads as either there entre or appitizer. I'm not entirely sure.
Two minutes later there are about five or six people in line. I here alot of noise coming from the machines. Of course it's because of all the orders being made. I noticed that it is very fast paced back there when the orders come in. Which is a good thing! "tall hot chocolate" one employee calls out.
Ther is a guy sitting in one of the couch like chairs wit the mini desk attached aon his Toshiba laptop. I wonder what he's looking up. Probably not homework..
Theres a girl sitting directly in front of me on her cell phone giving someone a phone number. She was so loud with her whole conversation that I'd wished she wowuld move.
I here the Starbucks employee's all laughing and having a good time while there are no customers. The work enviornment seems so fun and friendly to be in, while still very hectic and fast paced at the same time.
A few minutes later when I was wrapping up my observatons for the day, a young lady walks up to and asks if she could use my phone. It sounded urgent so I said sure. She said one call and I said sure no problem. This girl was on my phone for about 45 min. just laughing and giggling. she kept saying five more minutes. Finally I said okay your done and I took the phone from her and hung up on who ever she was talking too. She's lucky my minutes were free or she wouldn't have had it as long as she did.
That was pretty much my night of observing.

EMU Student center: Starbucks area week 6
when I first sat down there was a white buissness card sitting on the table that said Our black bag. Underneath it said Adult party. It made me wonder what kind of "adult party it really was.
When I first got there I noticed that it was very crowded. I Since have never been up here this time o fday before I thought that it was just crowdwed this time of day. That was not the case though. Today they are holding the fast track tours. So the mass over flow o fpoeple was probably due to that.
There were two ladies sitting at the table in front of me giving away boks about porn nation.
Behind me sat a group of people speaking very loudly. I didn't see there faces at first, bit I had to turn and look at them when I realized that they were speaking a foreign language. They were asian so I assume they were speaking chinese
A little girl holding a tub of popcorn was walking with her mother. I could tell by the way sh ewas holding it that she was going to drop it sooner or later. Then when she finally did she threw a huge fit about. she was screaming and crying, and yelling at her mom for more. every one in the area fell silent and looked at the little girl. My expression said that little girl needs a good whooping for acting up like that. Many of the other expressions on people's faces read the same way.A woman finally comes over to clcecan up the mess that the little girl made.

EMU Student Center: Starbucks Area
This Thursay was a liitle different than what I was expecting it to be. As you all may know this Thursday hapended to be Valentines Day. So me being the freshman that I am having all the memories of how grade school used to look on V-Day, I expected to see flowers, candy aand balloons everywhere I looked. However, it wasn't like that at all. when I came down stairs to go to class....nothing. When I actually got to class....nothing. So when time came for me to go to the student center, I just knew that I was going to see flowers, balloons, the whole works. But again to my suprise.....NOTHING.
It was actually quite boring and dead in the student center thursday. There was a couple sitting at the tables here and there., but nothing to exciting to report this week.
Even though there was nothing to observe this week, I did learn something about college that is way different from high school. People do not make a big deal out of Valentines Day around here. SHOCKING!!!

week 2: EMU Starbucks area
so i get here and I sit at a table. The first thing I notice sitting one table down from me is am male with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. he's chewing on what seems to be a stick from what once was a lollipop, while fidgiting with his silver razor stlye phone. "Pryor" he calls a loud, "what's going on." I'm guessing this guy Pryor was a buddy of his. He's wearing a letter jacket so I assume he plays some kind of sport fo the school. With the jacket he wears dark blue jeans faded in yellow in the middle. His friend walks over and joins him with a taco bell bag in hand. He had a lot in the bag so I guessed he bought enough for the both of them, but to my suprise it was all for him. "man this guy eats alot", I thought to my-self.
In the far corner sits a group of about five to seven people. they all have on htese burgendy-ish colored shirts with white writing on the front. the writing read "el club de espanol." Now I don't know much spanish but i think anyone could tell that they were the spanish club. I am guessing that they meet over there in that area every Thursady at seven o' clock pm.
Over to the left sits, what I think is safe to say, a couple. I mean unless brothers and sisters gaze into each others eyes lovingly and hold hands now a days those two were definatly a couple. The girl has her hair in a ponytail wit a gold head band and a brown hoodie with a black shirt underneath and blue jeans and white gym shoes. Her boyfriend is wearing a brown colored jacket with a tan hodie underneath and blue jaens with and black shoes. He's tapping his foot continuously as if he was nervouse or something. If he was nervous, It's not because it's there first date or something because judging from their wardrobe they have been together for a while.
Meanwhile, in walks a tall dark and handsome man with Will Smith ears.He joins the guy wearing the letrer jacket. Tall dark and handsome is wearing a gray-ish sweater that fit him all too well with dark blue jeans and black shoes. He smelled good too. He's sipping on a Tazo tea. Next to the tea sits his gray spint phone. Now just from the way he sits I would guess that he is a professor or something of that sort. But then I hear bits and pieces of the conversation and my assumption changes. At first it sounds like they're talking about lifting weights and tall dark adn handsome is telling letter jacket how he should be lifting, so I think he's a trainer. Then I heard him say " when I look at your situation."So I thought he was a therapist of some sort. Well what ever he was he knew what he was talking about.
Behind me where the four chairs are placed in a circle with a coffee table in the center sits a male on his laptop. He is wearing a black sweater with a silver chain that has two dog tags attached to it . from the look of the dog tags I would assume that he was from the navy or army or...something. he looks to be doing some homework, but maybe he's just on facebook. I mean isn't everyone these days.
The girl of the couple walks over to Starbucks and orders a grande caramel latte. Her boyfrind orders a viente machiato. The girlfriend gets her drink and takes a sip. the server asks her is everything okay? she says......yes every thing is fine. "shoot", I thought to my-self, I was really hoping for some drama. But oh well. Her boyfriend gets his drink and they walk off in to the sunset and live happily ever after....or do they???
Finally, when I thought there was nohting else to report something terrible and grotesque happens right in front of me. GORTESQUE!!! what a way to end my night of observing.

Week 1: EMU Student Center Starbucks area
I finally chose the perfect place where I want to complete my observations. EMU Student Center Sarbucks area.
I began my observing this area Tuesday, January 29. I found on that first day that a coffe shop is very busy. Especially among busy sleep deprived collge students. There is also alot of trafiic in that area alone. So my findings for the next couple of weeks should be quite interesting ones.....

Research plans
for my research I plan to observe the Stabucks in EMU's student center, the rec/im, and something else. I'm not really sure yet.
